Blue and purple abstract painting
Acrylic on canvas, 12x16"
I consider this painting to be truly abstract because I haven't made any conscious attempt to make it look like anything real. I used something real as a starting point for inspiration, but the painting looks nothing like it. It evolved and developed instinctively, based on what balance of shapes and colours, angles, and light and dark I felt looked pleasing. With non-abstract paintings I have quite a fixed idea in my mind of how I want the finished painting to look. With this painting, I did not know how the finished product would look.
