The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.

I love Lucian Freud's distinctive bold style and the way he didn't try to make people look more attractive than they were in reality. Some people seem to find him ugly but I like the look of intense concentration in his self portrait in the mirror and the way he seems un-self-conscious about portraying himself realistically. It was a real challenge to try to reproduce this painting.
