Abstract black relief collage painting
acrylic and collage on board, 39x34cm
The painting is on a board, in a frame, so it is ready to hang.
I love the colour black, even though some say it is not technically a colour, but an absence of colour. Black is never pure black but has hints of other colours. I like the subtlety of these. The colour being sparse makes it seem more special and life-like in contrast to the dead-like black. You can't see dark without light and light without dark. There is light and shadow even on a black surface, different shades of black, and I wanted to highlight this by using texture and 3D shapes under the paint.
