I used a rough, highly textured painting style to depict a rough sea. The painting wasn't just about representing the sea, but enjoying the properties of the paint and effects that happened randomly during its application. I chose colours which loosely represented the scene but mainly chose them just because they are colours I like. I also wanted to go for a dark dramatic atmosphere.
