A simple celendine flower painting
Acrylic on canvas, 16x16"
Just a common flower, a weed even, but when I observed the first ones to flower this year, it symbolised to me the beginning of Spring, and new life and colour, after the relative 'bareness' of winter. It makes me think of the miracle of life and nature, and its continuing cycles. Although realistically looking at a celendine, it would be against a backdrop of green (leaves and grass), I painted the colour of a clear blue sky as my background, to give the impression of a warm sunny day and the warming up of the seasons.
