Botanical grass nature painting
watercolour on paper, 7x10"
Our family camped in a remote field for a long weekend. It was my favourite kind of campsite – quiet and ‘basic’ with a walk across two fields to use a single toilet in a shed which was home to several spiders. A babbling stream flowed past our tent a few metres away and the wind blew the long grasses of the field, making it ripple like water. I felt mesmerized by it and drawn to look at the grass close up, realizing that grass is actually quite beautiful. I found a spot where the different foliages were naturally composed in a way I found pleasing and began to paint.
