Acrylic on canvas, 16x12"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is or can be framed if you prefer.
If this painting sells from the ebay listing 50% will go to The World Wildlife Fund to help protect endangered species.
While painting this, and comparing it to how it feels to paint a human portrait, it really struck me how 'human' these animals are. They do, in fact, share an estimated 98% of their genes with us! How can we fail to empathise with such an animal as they are losing their home (habitat) and becoming more and more endangered. In this painting I wanted to portray a feeling of the chimpanzee surveying his family's (and they are sociable animals just like us) home and maybe feeling the threat to its future.
