This is my second chicken painting using reference photos with kind permission from Elvira Jane Crochet Designer. I experimented with starting the painting off in Payne's Grey and white, and not adding too many different colours after, to see what mood this would give the painting. I like the dark and dramatic feel of it. A chicken can seem like an insignificant tiny brained creature but up close it looks interesting. I wanted to paint it as a portrait which would make the chicken look important, proud and almost regal. I like the thought of looking at things in a different way which makes you appreciate their beauty more.
