For this painting I used a reference photo with kind permission from Elvira Jane Crochet Designer. Her photo made the chicken look 'cheeky' I thought, and happy in its free range life. As I painted it, I could see potential for some Van Gogh like brushstrokes and lines of direction round the painting, so I tried to give it an impressionist look.
