Fishing boat painting, Mevagissey, Cornwall
Acrylic on canvas, 12 x 16"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is or can be framed if you prefer.
I did this fishing boat painting with a rough texture using a palette knife. I felt it reflected what I imagine it to be like to work on the boat in rough weather conditions. The sculpting paste I used also seemed a good way to paint the mud in the harbour.
Although I can imagine all the movement going on when the boat is out on the sea in all weather conditions, in this scene the boat is peacefully moored and there is an air of stillness. A shaft of sunlight lights up the scene making it atmospheric.
