Fluidity abstract painting
Acrylic on canvas, 16x20"
Maybe we are all somewhere on a scale between extreme male and extreme female and we are attracted to individuals who balance our relative maleness and femaleness. This made me think of a yin and yang type of thing, the Chinese philosophy about opposing things being complementary and necessary to each other, like you can't have dark without light, or old without young, or female without male etc. In the yin and yang symbol each side has a bit of the other in it. This made me think of doing a painting with several yin and yang symbols but instead of them all having an equal amount of black and white, they vary. It also made me think of Salvador Dali's melting clocks, and I felt they should look a bit fluid. I've also changed the colours but they are still complementary colours to each other.
