Acrylic on canvas, 12x16"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.
Glen Rosa Campsite on the Isle of Arran, Scotland is a wonderful place to camp. The path from the campsite towards the Arran mountains and Cir Mhor peak leads quickly to beautiful views like this which are lovely to paint. This must be one of the most picturesque of my landscape paintings.
It was a hot summer when we visited and the bright light illuminated the blues, greens and purples of the landscape. All those colours in combination made a lovely balance to the composition. Also the path snaking into the distance, which had paths coming off it and leading to other places.
Streams flow down from the mountains with the occasional pool, like the one you can see in the painting. In the hot summer hikers, including our family, found it refreshing to do a bit of wild swimming.
