Acrylic on canvas, 16x12"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.
We crossed this field on the way back to Grafton Flyford village from Grafton Wood, a Worcestershire Wildlife Trust site where we like to walk. It is home to rare brown hairstreak butterflies.
It is just a muddy ploughed field, which might not seem like an obvious painting subject, but the warm colours of the sky, reflected in the puddles in the furrows made it look beautiful.
A colourful sunset is a work of art by nature on its own, but the reflections in the water and the converging lines of the field's channels into the distance added interest to the composition.
The sky changes quickly as the sun goes down, which makes its fleeting moments of beauty feel precious. I often paint from my photographs and it feels good to spend a longer time dwelling on the memory to capture it in art.
Grafton Flyford is a very small rural village about 6 miles East of Worcester. It has a historic church and remains of a deserted medieval village.
