I wanted to paint a healthy looking cat with its fur in good condition, shining with a depth of colours.  I also wanted to show the intensity of its stare that you sometimes see when a cat is concentrating, and that facial expression that shows a cat's grace but at the same time, a dangerous kind of power over its prey, which reminds you that even a domestic pussy cat is related to the big cats in nature.
