Seascape with rocks painting
Acrylic on canvas, 24x18"
This painting is of a scene from one of our family holidays to North Devon (England). At home, we have been redesigning one of our rooms as a relaxing place to sit, in front of a real fire. We felt that a painting on the wall of a stormy sea on a cold day would be a contrasting scene which would accentuate the feeling of warmth, safety and relaxation in the room. This was the purpose of the painting. For me personally, I liked the shapes of the rocks, the gradation in their shade of colour from the foreground into the distance, the movement of the sea, the dark sky and the dramatic mood, and I wanted to celebrate and relive the sight of these things by painting them.
