Acrylic on canvas, 16x20"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.
I painted this to go in
Worcester Society of Artists 2021 annual exhibition, as we had a theme of "Winter". I had recently been on a cold, muddy, bleak walk through Trench Wood in Worcestershire, and although that description sounds horrible, the atmosphere and views were good inspiration for art. I liked the contrast between the warm light of the sun going down and the coldness of the path. An example of how one thing can highight the beauty of its opposite. I used complementary colours to express this and a combination of 'dead' muted colours (black and shades of grey) and 'alive' pure colours.
