The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.

I painted this for a Worcester Society of Artists project where we shared and discussed our cityscape paintings. I've lived in Worcester for quite a long time and feel very attached to the place as it's where I've had my children and met some good people. Certain views around the city represent its character to me, and St Nicholas Church, which is now the Slug and Lettuce pub and the Courtyard building are some of those. I like atmospheric lighting and wait for days when the lighting is good to take photopgraphs which I use for art reference and then paint from at home. The painting is not entirely realistic as I've used a lot of my favourite purple for the darker areas, just because I like the look of it, and I've left unrefined brushstrokes to try to make it look 'painterly' rather than photographic.
