Acrylic on canvas, 16x20"
The painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is or can be framed if you prefer.
This was inspired by a photograph taken by my friendĀ
Collette Knibb (see her photos on instagram) who kindly gave me her permission to use her photograph as a reference.
Worcester is well known for its swan sanctuary on the River Severn. The swans look regal, especially when they spread their wings. I haven't often seen one do that but my friend was lucky enough to see it and photograph it. I painted the swan on its own as though stretching its wings was a private moment, and restricted the colour palette to blues and greens to give the painting a dreamlike atmosphere.
