Acrylic on canvas, 16 x 12"
This Isle of Mull painting is on a stretched canvas, painted round the sides, with a string on the back, so it is ready to hang as it is, or can be framed if you prefer.
This is another painting to add to my
Scotland Collection. These are paintings to remember the beauty of Scotland from our travels. I like to capture a moment in paint when the scene looked beautiful and dramatic. I take a lot of photographs, and discard a lot of them, but some have just the right lighting and make good reference photos for painting when I get home.
When I look at this painting it feels calming for my mind to be transported back to a place which was quieter and more tranquil. The sea gently lapping against the rocks and the odd bleat from the sheep roaming about near the houses across the water. More sheep seem to live on Mull than people. The sea was quite calm and you could see the reflections of the houses in the water. The sea seemed calm at all the beaches we visited on Mull. The whole place felt calm and unrushed.
We climbed up on the rocks to get a different view than just staying on the beach. It is often worth doing. When we find a special place like this to sit, we often get a few biscuits out and have a snack and linger there for a while. In normal life I hardly ever just sit and spend time looking at beautiful surroundings.
If you are interested in the artistic processes I used to create this painting, I have made a short youtube video which you can watch
