Whenever we have been to Scotland I have dreaded the long journey from the midlands, but felt it was well worth it when we arrived. Maybe the contrast between busy traffic, which makes me particularly anxious, and the relative quietness of Scotland makes me appreciate the area even more. I hate the constant feeling of rushing in modern life. But when we arrive in Scotland time seems to slow down. The open spaces make me feel more space in my mind. The scenery is beautiful and I feel I have time to take it in. I take more time appreciating what I have seen by painting it when I return home.
